Vitamin D and Hair Loss
For a long time people have depended on various vitamin supplements to improve the overall health of their body. Many times the food that we eat cannot give our bodies with all the vitamins and minerals that we need. A great way to fill this void is to take certain vitamins. But what if you have problems with hair loss? Is there a vitamin that you can take that will help you with this problem? Yes there is, as Vitamin D can help because one of the primary symptoms of hair loss are Vitamin D deficiency.
There have been studies that have been done on mice that vitamin D can help prevent hair loss, which was shown in mice that were studied. If hair loss happens in younger people that person can suffer from vitamin deficiency, especially vitamin D deficiency. But you should know that these studies done on mice are ongoing and some points of the study are not clear.
One factor that has an effect on the vitamin D process is Omega 3. In our lives, especially as we grow older, much of what we do is done indoors and people do not get enough sunlight. Sunlight is a great source of vitamin D. However, according to some researches it is not the main reason for the lack of vitamin D. Those researches have stated that a diet that does not have enough fatty acids is a major cause of vitamin D deficiency. Our bodies can naturally produce vitamin D but we also need essential fatty acids. These fatty acids are responsible for the production of, and removal of excess, cholesterol, as well as needed or various other body functions. In order for the body to naturally manufacture vitamin D it will need a certain amount of cholesterol. If the body is not getting the right amount of fatty acids it will not be able to produce enough vitamin D. Because of this the body will see a vitamin D deficiency. A couple of effects of vitamin D deficiency are a flaky scalp and psoriasis.
If your body also has deficiencies of L-lysine, zinc, and copper it can also lead to hair loss. Even though vitamin D is the major vitamin that can cause hair loss, if the body has a deficiency, there are other vitamins that can cause hair loss if there is not enough in the body. There are many vitamin D supplements available on the market today. You should make sure that the manufacturer is a reputable on before you take the vitamin D supplement. Some of the better vitamin D supplements are more expensive but it is a small price to pay to have, and especially keep, healthy hair. Before taking any type of vitamin supplement you should consult a physician beforehand.
