Hair Transplants
Baldness and receding hairlines makes a man self conscious. But fret no more as Hair Transplants are now available for you. This is a very simple procedure that you can have to bring back your confidence. Men’s baldness is an inherited pattern of loss that is why it is important for you to understand the process of hair transplant. This procedure has been proven over time and it is very rare that a patient does not respond to this treatment.
Ring of hair around the back and sides of the head are not lost during the balding process. Even in extreme baldness, these hairs are not lost because the follicles are genetically programmed not to fall out. They are not affected by DHT or Dihydrotestosterone that causes the follicles in the front and top of the head to shrink and stop growing hairs.
In hair transplant, a piece of skin that has follicles from the back and sides of the head is removed. They are extracted and then inserted into the areas of the scalp that is suffering from baldness. You don’t have to worry about the removed follicles in the back and sides as they will continue to grow.
Usually, doctors will do the placement of the hairs on top and in front of the heads because they give the best aesthetic result. It would be impossible to have the same amount of hair you have before hair loss but with the right doctor and the right process, the illusion of full hair can be obtained.
The number of sessions required will depend on the desired amount of fullness. There is a limit on the removal of skin at one time, usually about 2500 grafts at a time, so more session may be required. Hair loss is gradual and will continue until the full pattern is reach, thus younger man might not be a good candidate due to the uncertainty of the inherited potential of hair loss.
Before starting the procedure, it is highly recommended that you plan with your doctor first before proceeding. First question must be about the procedure. The density of hairs that you want restored must be attainable. The placement of hairs must also be explained to you by your doctor. Also, the number of sessions required must be discussed. Another important thing to ask your doctor is what you can expect after the hair transplant. Pain relievers may be taken to provide relief after the anesthesia wear off. You should be physically and psychologically ready before and after the transplant.
So, when does your hair grow after the transplant? Usually, three months after the procedure, the hair will regenerate and grow little by little. They will grow an average of 1/2” per month from the date of transplantation.
The cost of hair transplant surgery depends on the density required, the size of grafts and the number of sessions needed to acquire the desired fullness. Be sure to check with your doctors about it before you start the whole process.
